Hands-on: Interpreting for Deaf Visually Impaired People

This one day workshop offers an introduction to interpreting for Deaf/Visually impaired People. Trainer Lindsey Truss who is Deaf with Usher syndrome, starts with a look at the cultural aspects of Deaf/Visual impairment (DVI) and interpreting services for Deaf/Visually Impaired people (DVIP) from a service users perspective.  Through the use of simulation glasses this practical workshop offers you the chance to experience signing and receiving using Visual Frame (VF) and Hands-On. Gain a practical understanding of a range of adaptations needed, such as fingerspelling, handshapes, NMF and homonym clarification also ethics, responsibilities and boundaries and the best way to prepare for a Hands-On assignment.
