Certificate of Proficiency in English course...a MUST for Deaf professionals, particularly those working in Sign Language Translation
These short courses enable you to develop your English skills to a high level to match your level of BSL. They are a MUST for Deaf professionals including those working in Sign Language Translation. They prepare you to take the examinations for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (University of Cambridge ESOL). The courses use real-life situations that are especially designed to help you communicate more effectively in English when working in Sign Language Translation or in a professional setting.
About the Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE)
This is an internationally recognised qualification, which is used at Master's degree level/Level 7, and is recognised by universities, employers and government as proof of proficiency in English.The CPE is the highest level, C2, on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Duration: 8 week evening course
This level 7 course is invaluable to people who require a high standard of written English, particularly those who work or are planning to work in sign language translation. After our successful lobbying of Cambridge University, there has been a change of policy which exempts Deaf people from the Listening and Speaking components of the exams. You can take the other three papers: reading /writing /use of English, and achieve this Level 7 qualification.
Fees: £300 incl VAT + £110 exam fee
