BSL Training

Our NVQ qualifications are available in 2 components - Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 is the skills training and development component, while Part 2 is the skills assessment component. Please see below a table comparing how we deliver the old qualification specification with the new.

Below is the course progression route that Signamic have created to visualise the different stages on the way to becoming a fully qualified interpreter.

You will be assessed prior to being accepted on our various programmes, and you will be advised if you are not ready for Part 2. If you have been assessed as not ready you will be invited to undergo Part 1 of our programme, to develop your skills to make them ready for successful assessment in Part 2.
If you have been assessed as being "almost there" but your BSL skills are too advanced for the Part 1 skills training and development component, we will refer you to our range of "Top-Up" workshops which are tailor-made to deliver specialised training on specific NVQ assessment criteria which could run alongside our Part 2 programme.
We also offer other workshops on a range topics which are not necessarily linked to the NVQ assessment criteria, such as “Fingerspelling Skills”, “Multi-channel Signs”, and “Placements” as well as NVQ Evidence Collection days. These workshops are also available for those of you who have obtained your NVQ qualification in BSL.
